Jlife Buzz-Metro Jersey Section of National Council of Jewish Women Celebrated Women Authors

On Sunday January 28, 2024 the Metro Jersey Section of National Council of Jewish Women celebrated women authors with two classic stories performed by professional actress Michèle LaRue in “Women Breaking Loose”. Ms. LaRue tours nationally with Tales Well Told: vibrant stories written by Gilded Age authors. Audiences know Ms LaRue from her many appearances with the East Lynne Theater Company. Her unique repertoire of century-old American Tales Well Told has garnered much praise.
The stories presented on Jan 28, are, “A Pair of Silk Stockings” by Kate Chopin & “Representing T.A.Buck” by Edna Ferber. Kate Chopin (1851 – 1904) and Edna Ferber (1885 – 1968) were prominent and prolific authors in their times. “This pairing of stories explored in fiction two dilemmas that women still face daily: Who comes first—my family or me? Where do I belong—at home or at work?”
The presentation took place at the JCC of Middlesex County 1775 Oak Tree Road, Edison New Jersey. Light Refreshments will be served. The program was free to the public—donations are welcomed—and light refreshments were served.
