Aleeza Ben Shalom, the star of the hit Netflix series, Jewish Matchmaking, is coming to Monmouth County. She will appear Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the Radisson Hotel in Freehold, in a program sponsored by Chabad of Western Monmouth County, talking about the world of love and relationships and the complexities of finding the perfect match. Ben Shalom is an author, relationship coach and lecturer who has appeared on radio and podcasts and is now on a national tour.
Tickets for the VIP reception, which begins 6 p.m. and includes preferred seating and cocktails, hors d’ oeuvres and smorgasbord with Ben Shalom, are $180. The Chabad Jewish Center of Monroe will present a free showing and discussion led by Dr. Ellen Panzer about the documentary, “Never Again,” for Tisha B’ Av on Thursday, July 27 at 6 p.m. It will be preceded by mincha services at 5:30 p.m. The 2020 film seeks to educate others on the horrors and consequences of antisemitism. The documentary follows the story of a former radical Islamicist and a Holocaust survivor as they seek to leave behind a legacy of love over hate. The Central Jersey Shalom Cultural Club will hold a program, Sunday, July 30, at 12:30 p.m. at the Millstone Performing Arts Center featuring comedian Chris Monty and composer, lyricist and producer Neil Berg performing, “100 Years of Broadway.
Monty has been performing stand-up for more than 20 years. His latest projects include: “What’s the Worst That Could Happen?” and “Red Oaks” on Amazon and “Vinyl” on HBO. He has also appeared in the movie, “Paul Bart: Mall Cop II” and on television in “Kevin Can Wait” on CBS and “Orange is the New Black” on Netflix.
Berg is composer/lyricist of the Broadway-bound musical, “The 12” written with Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright Robert Schenkken. His other musicals include the off-Broadway hit, “The Prince and the Pauper,’ “Tim and Scrooge,” and “The Man Who Would be King.” He is currently working with writer Jonathan Feldman (Swing Kids movie) and producer Mark Gordon (Grey’s Anatomy and Saving Private Ryan) on a new contemporary musical, “Never Grimm,” with Tony-nominated director Leigh Silverman (Sweet Charity).
