Happy 75th Birthday Israel! On Sunday, April 30th, Congregation B’nai Tikvah, along with our local community, gathered for a day filled with Israeli pride. The temple would like to everyone who joined it in celebrating Israel’s independence. It would also like to thank the Jewish Federation in the Heart of New Jersey for their unconditional support.
B’nai Tikvah hosted an Israeli Fair where, it was joined by the Jewish National Fund, Jewish Family Services, OpenDor Media, USCJ/USY Teen Travel, the B’nai Tikvah Sisterhood Gift Shop, and other vendors selling beautiful Judaic and Israeli items. Throughout the afternoon, people visited the fair, socialized, and obtained information about Israeli programs.
While the Israeli Fair was going on, it also held its PJ Library Birthday Bash for Israel where over 60 children and their families engaged in a fun-filled afternoon of Israeli-themed activities. The children left notes at the Kotel, conducted an archeological dig, learned why objects float in the Dead Sea, wrote cards to IDF soldiers, tasted Israeli food, made Israeli flags, read books at the PJ Library book nook, bounced in the bounce house, got balloon animals and airbrushed tattoos, sang Happy Birthday to Israel and Hatikvah, and ate birthday cake in Israel’s honor.
The day of celebration culminated with a packed house for our L’dor Vador Claire and Irving Teicher concert starring Magda Fishman and her band Shorashim. Throughout the concert, the sanctuary was filled with music, singing, and dancing as guests of all ages. Magda’s voice echoed throughout the room and there was a palpable feeling of energy and excitement.
Those who attended the day of Israeli celebrations are still talking about what a fulfilling and wonderful experience they had at B’nai Tikvah on April 30th. Am Yisrael Chai!
