The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County in Freehold will hold its Summer Solstice Musical Magic Cocktail Party and Benefit Concert  on Sunday, June 22 from 4-7 p.m. featuring Monmouth County native Cantor Micah Morgovsky with Barbara Orwick on the piano.

Morgovsky grew up in Lincroft  and the family were members of the Monmouth Reform Temple in Tinton Falls. Morgovsky has been cantor at Temple Sinai in Stamford, Conn. since 2008. After graduating from Syracuse University, she spent two years studying in Israel, one at the Hebrew University and another at Hebrew Union College. Morgovsky returned to the U.S. to finish at her cantorial degree at HUC, earning a Master of Sacred Music in 2005 and was ordained as cantor a year later. While in Jerusalem she learned  she was likely related to famed cantor Chazzan Yaakov Maragowsky, better known as Zeidel Rovner in the U.S.

She previously served as cantor and director of religious education at North County Reform Temple in Glen Cove, NY.

Morgovsky is a regular collaborator with other Jewish singer/songwriters on new and innovative worship services.  During the concert she will share music from different genres and time periods, including secular, theatrical and liturgical songs representing her musical life from her youth in Monmouth County to her cantorial career.

Orwick has accompanied many singers, theatrical organizations, schools, community choirs, churches and synagogues.

The party will have wine and hot and cold kosher hors d’oeuvres. Cost to attend is $60 and proceeds will benefit the museum.
