People usually want their affairs settled without problems or delays, especially the heirs. Yet many problems develop unwittingly even when people are fully prepared and take every precaution. Further, some people engage in actions they feel will make things go smoothly when all they are doing is creating extra work for themselves. Pitfalls abound everywhere.
Edward Mendlowitz, CPA, and inductee of the Estate Planning Hall of Fame presented a program that covers some of the more common problems people have settling estates and helps avoid difficulties while they are still around. Everyone attending this program should have left with at least one change (and probably many) they can make to assure an easier handling of what is usually an upsetting process during a very unsettled period.
This program was the 45th Annual Financial Program of Edward Mendlowitz, CPA, Emeritus partner, Withum, Adjunct Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University, and designated by the AICPA as a personal financial specialist. Ed is the author of 32 professional books and is one of Forbes Magazine’s Top 200 CPAs in America.
The program was sponsored by Congregation Beth Ohr Men’s Club and was open to the public. For more information email emcpa1@aol.com.
